Sprinting and Speed – Cycling Training for Performance

Training Session 2 – Day 1
Speed training is used to develop quickness and explosive power. It involves short, intense periods of cycling, from about five to 30 seconds in duration with long recovery periods.
- Improve your reaction time and efficiency
- Train your body to recruit the necessary muscles
- Learn a sense of relaxation at a faster pace
- Add variety to your workouts
Bring a team or find one on the spot for sprints, lead-outs and speed specific training. You’ll get a great workout and learn techniques to improve your sprints and top-end speed. Don’t be intimidated if you’ve never participated in an organized sprint practice, we’ll work through it together. Training your max speed has significant carry-over to all other aspects of your riding. Better yet, bring along that riding partner that you’ve always wanted to test head-to-head.
Improve your fitness with Cycling Training Sessions on Wednesday evenings. Each 4-week session will include an evening of speed specific training, threshold training, hill training and fast paceline practice. This session is open to both male and female cyclists and will take place in an environment that allows riders or all abilities to be safe and work to their individual capacity. This is performance training. Whether you’re racing or just want to be faster and more efficient on your bike, this is the session for you. Come feeling fresh and we’ll work hard!
